Jason Fraser joins GPTech as Director, Sustainable Development

Jason Fraser will lead the Green Powered Technology (GPTech) Sustainable Development Practice Area and serve as a member of our senior leadership team. Jason has more than 20 years of experience in international development, working across government, private, and non-governmental sectors.

Jason has excelled at leading partnerships and facilitating negotiations among international public-private organizations for a variety of sustainable development projects, especially in Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. His experience includes a wide range of duties, from providing legal assistance and coordinating fundings to advising high-ranking officials.

Before joining GPTech, Jason was the Mission Director for U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Jamaica, where he launched a $4 million renewable energy alliance, a $5 million commitment for a catastrophic insurance bond to assist Jamaica in the event of a natural disaster, and a loan guarantee program with the Commercial Bank of Jamaica in conjunction with the USAID Office of Development Credit, giving small and medium enterprises in Jamaica access to more competitive loans.  In addition, Jason launched an assessment of Jamaica’s critical infrastructure for the adoption of renewable technologies with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory. 

In addition to his many roles at USAID, including as Mission Director in Angola, Rwanda, and Jamaica, and Deputy Mission Director in Ethiopia, Jason served as a USAID Legal Advisor to multiple organizations and governmental entities. As an Associate Attorney for U.S. private law firms in New York and Boston, Jason advised clients on navigating titling and trust issues, and drafting leases and development and finance agreements for real estate transactions.

Jason received his Juris Doctorate from the Columbia University School of Law with a focus on Human Rights and International Law. He received a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs with a concentration in African and International Affairs. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Jason is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Supreme Judicial Court of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
