Green Powered Technology (GPTech) is pleased to announce that George Obitre-Gama has joined our team as Chief of Party for Architect-Engineering in support of Northern Uganda Development of Enhanced Local Governance, Infrastructure and Livelihoods (NUDEIL) program. George has 24 years of experience providing engineering, management, capacity building, and institutional strengthening on international donor-funded infrastructure projects. He has successfully managed projects in Liberia, Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Uganda. In this capacity, he was responsible for overall leadership and technical direction, ensuring an integrated approach among different program components and stakeholders, while meeting expectations for schedule, budget, and quality.

Before joining GPTech, George worked as the Chief of Party (COP) for Liberia Municipal Water Project (LMWPII) for construction oversight/quality assurance (QA) of water treatment facilities. As COP George was responsible for overall implementation, results, and management of the LMWPII and was the primary point of contact to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), ensuring overall leadership management and general technical direction of the entire project. Among other accomplishments, George implemented an institutional framework for private-sector participation in the management of the water utility. Prior to joining LMWPII in 2019, George was a Senior Program Engineer, Energy Infrastructure Team Leader, and Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for the USAID Office of Infrastructure project in Afghanistan.  He provided program management oversight, planned and coordinated institutional strengthening and capacity-building efforts, and managed monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to meet scope, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.

George received his Bachelor of Technology degree in civil engineering from Regional Engineering College (now National Institute of Technology), Kakatiya University, India. He is a COR (FAC-COR Level II) for the Office of Federal Procurement Policy & Federal Acquisition Institute. He is affiliated with the Project Management Institute and received the USAID “On the Spot” Award (2017 and 2019) and the USAID Mission Honor Award (2015 and 2016) in recognition of his mentorship of Afghan Foreign Service National staff during a critical staff shortage period.
