The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has awarded Green Powered Technology (GPTech) a contract to provide technical oversight of the Off-grid Clean Energy Grant Facility (OCEF) apropos Benin’s environmental/social context and MCC guidelines. OCEF is an initiative of the Benin Compact Program that aims to increase access to electricity for underserved rural /peri-urban populations, encourage growth in off-grid electrification markets, and promote energy efficiency. GPTech will play a key role as a technical overseer to help OCEF carries out its goals of improving off-grid technologies and infrastructure, environmental and social performance, public health and safety, gender and social inclusion, M&E, economic analysis, and grants administration. GPTech will also monitor compliance with MCC’s social, environmental, procurement, regulatory/licensing/permit, and other requirements of OCEF grantees. This two-year project began March 2018 and is GPTech’s third Call Order under the MCC Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) on “PPPs, Other Partnered Approaches and Access to Finance.”

GPTech’s President and CEO, Phillip Green, stated, “GPTech is very pleased to be awarded our third Call Order with MCC, and our first that focuses on off-grid clean energy activities under this BPA.  We look forward to supporting MCC’s clean energy objectives in Benin and to working with local stakeholders to improve rural electrification and access to energy in the country.”
